Compressor

Compressor

A compressor reduces the dynamic range of the played notes. It can make music sound mellow, soften harsh notes, or force high velocity.

Description

The Compressor module can reduce or expand the dynamic range of the played notes. Compression lowers the velocity of loud notes or amplifies the velocity of quiet ones.

Threshold is a point below or above which the velocity will be adjusted.

Ratio is the amount of velocity adjustment. Values smaller than 1.0 will expand the dynamic range (a compressor becomes an expander).

Gain fixed amount added to the input signal.

Reference defines which part of the signal stays unchanged, while the other is compressed or expanded. When Low Ref is selected, notes with a velocity above the Threshold will be adjusted. On the other hand, with Peak Ref selected, notes with a velocity below the Threshold will be changed.
